Cai Thorman Wins Essay Prizes
GGSR PhD Candidate and UCD Provost’s Dissertation Year Fellow, Cai Thorman, has been awarded the AIA 2019 Graduate Student Paper Award (First Prize) and the WCC 2019 Pre-PhD Paper Presentation Prize for her paper entitled, “Matrilineal Lineage in Cult for Hellenistic Queens,” presented at the AIA/SCS 2019 Joint Annual Meeting January 3-6, 2019 in San Diego, CA.
The Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) Graduate Student Paper Award is awarded once a year for a graduate student paper delivered at the AIA/SCS Annual Meeting and is selected based on originality of the research, concision of presentation, organization, and rhetorical delivery. The Women’s Classical Caucus (WCC) Pre-PhD Paper Presentation Prize is also awarded once a year for an oral paper presented a major conference by a pre-PhD scholar that relates to the WCC’s mission of the study of gender, sexuality, feminist theory, women’s history, or the status of women in the profession.
