Scholarships for Undergraduates

The Department of Religious Studies and UC Davis financial aid offer the following scholarships that may be of interest to our majors:

Religious Studies Undergraduate Research Fund

This endowment provides awards to Religious Studies Majors completing an honors thesis. These awards can be used to help pay for research materials and research trips in support of your honors thesis. 

Taj and Zakir Syed Family Charitable Foundation Undergraduate/Graduate Scholarship for the Study of Islam and Islamic Civilization


The purpose of this scholarship is to educate students with little or no previous knowledge of Islam, Muslims and Islamic civilization so that they may use this education to address any racial and/or religious prejudices against Muslims and other minorities. This scholarship will provide to support to students who are enrolled full-time with junior or senior standing and/or a declared major in the social sciences or humanities and financial need. Students must be able to provide proof of enrollment in a course on Islam or Islamic civilization at UC Davis, as well as a one-page letter describing how they aim to use the knowledge gained from their courses on Islam and Islamic civilization to confront prejudices against Muslims and other minorities or an essay demonstrating their ideas for combating racial or religious prejudices in society. William Denman Scholarship

This award is restricted to undergraduate students studying philosophy, comparative religions, and international relations. Apply through the Office of Financial Aid.
