On Saturday, April 5, the first First Annual Pan-UC Religious Studies Council met to talk about current scholarship, teaching strategies, programming priorities and community-building tactics as well as resources in California and across the world. It was a path-breaking moment for inter-UC collaboration in our discipline! Hosted by UC Riverside, the conference brought together roughly thirty faculty and students from across the state. Along with workshops on a range of theoretical and methodological topics and collective as well as faculty- and graduate-student-only discussions, a number of participants presented their latest research papers and received feedback. Traveling home with new ideas and friends, participants all expressed an interest in reconvening in the Spring of 2026, most likely at a different campus. We look forward to sending out updates in the Fall!
