DR.MIKAELA CHASE. Ideality and Impossibility in the Contemporary Practice of the Jain Fast Until Death

Johns Hopkins University, 2022

SUPERVISOR: Prof. Veena Das, Department of Anthropology Dr. Chase is Assistant Professor in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures and holder of the Shri Anantanatha Chair in Jain Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Chase will deliver an in-person lecture at UC Davis in the coming academic year.

Dr. Mundra is the Bhagvan Vimalnath Assistant Professor of Jain Studies and South Asian Religions in the Department of Religious Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Mundra will be delivering a virtual talk on October 4th as part of the Emerging Scholars in Jain Studies lecture series.

ABHINANDAN BANERJEE, Department for the Study of Religion, UC Riverside for his essay, "Gendering the Uvāsagadasão: The Adaptation and Appropriation of Brahminical Patriarchy in Śvetāmbara Jaina Canon." Mr. Banerjee has begun his second year in the PhD program at UC Riverside.
